Future Conferences Heads-up

2006 Conference will be in Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota.  Date is July 28 and 29, 2006.  The Northern Lights Radio Society is the hosting club.  A large team of conference staff will make it a fine event with details covered.  Our event will be held at the Thunderbird Hotel, which is just 200 yards from the Mall of America.  A full family program will be offered.

2007 Conference will be held in San Antonio, Texas.  The RoadRunners Microwave Group are the hosting organization.

2008 Conference is open to proposals.  If your area has the people and energy to put on the conference, step forward and show off your area.  Contact the Board of Directors with your ideas. Now would be the time to crystallize your intentions.

Initial Reverse VUCC
(VUCC/r) Awards Presented

Central States VHF Society sponsors the Reverse VUCC Award recognizing those portable and rover stations who activate grids for fixed stations (and the joy of it).  The chart at the bottom of the next page shows who has earned the award so far.  You'll note that the initial awards have yet to be earned on 50, 144, 222, 432 MHz and 24 GHz and up.

If you earn the award, you are presented with a handsome certificate that may be enhanced with endorsement stickers for achievements beyond the basic award.

The Reverse VUCC Award is not an easy award to earn.  Those who can meet its' stringent rules will have earned a cherished honor.

Rules and contact information will always be available on the CSVHFS website at www.csvhfs.org

Come to Colorado Springs!

ed: (Listing of alternative hotels to try is on the last page with NO endorsement implied)

Hello all from Colorado!

We are looking forward to hosting you in Colorado Springs in just a few weeks.  We have sold over 80 rooms at the hotel, exhausted our block, freed
up another 10 rooms and I hear that others are staying in other establishments.

We'll kick off the event with a night at the "Flying W Ranch."  Strap on your boots, chaps and your best western shirt for a night to remember. You'll have a great time.

Joe Lynch, N6CL, has put together a great technical program.  Doug Wilson, WA0VSL is the technical coordinator.  Marc, WB0TEM, returns to the antenna range with Kent, WA5VJB to test the newest and best.  Noise figure measuring will be coordinated by Tommy, WD5AGO and Ray, AA0L.

A British High Tea on Friday afternoon is the highlight for the women, and a visit to the Olympic Training Center on Saturday afternoon.

The banquet is a special time.  We need help with prizes for the non-hams and for the ham prizes.  If you can help out, we will be really grateful. It would not be good for W5NZS to run out of prizes before his throat gives out.

June and I count it a privilege to host you.  We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
